the war is at a standstill.
elliot has yet to hear from the castle guards, still sleep eludes him. gentle fingers brush through bright blonde, ocean blue hidden behind peaceful slumber (for once, in many weeks of chaos). sweet nothings are whispered into his twin brother’s ear before he drags himself out of bed, silk pajama pants brushing against the floor as he walks, bare feet against cold marble, to the kitchen.
the quiet seems unreal, and the thought of peace even more so with looking-glass land’s current state.
elliot takes place behind the counter, wonders if he should put away the potion bottles their mother left out, only to raise his gaze when he hears the sound of padded footsteps resonating through the high ceilings of the palace. the figure materializes in the dim light, and elliot cannot help the smile that greets an old friend - the first to break the twins’s solid walls.
“good evening, garrett,” he starts. “can’t sleep?”
