That was most definitely not a guy.
For the split second in which their eyes meet, Casper’s mind goes completely blank. Though time had aged the person standing in front of him, her catlike features had remained the same. There was absolutely no questioning the fact that she was indeed Oh Dohee, someone that had once been one of his closest friends. Someone that had now become his target.
Someone that was most certainly not supposed to be a girl.
When the request for the assassination had been made, there hadn’t been any kind of details to it. The words had been clear: get rid of the company’s heir, and get rid of him fast. No reasons were given, no questions asked. A lot of money had been involved, and with how much of a mess Casper’s own life had become, this had seemed like the perfect distraction.
( But not when the target was Oh Dohee. Not then. )
‘Really?! Only ten seconds?! You must be the fastest person in the world, this is so cool!’
Her smile had been bright as his own, his chest swelling up with pride. She had been one of his biggest supporters at the time ( aside from his own mother and his best friend ), and it seemed that no matter how many times he showed off, she was always willing to spectate and encourage him. He loved it.
‘I think I can do nine seconds, too! Just watch me!’ And off he went again, to return to a bright and joyful Dohee once again.
There’s a slight moment of hesitation. Panic flashes through both his mind and his eyes. Never before has Casper changed his mind after having accepted a request; he always succeeds. Always. He shouldn’t let a childhood memory ruin his perfect record. He really, really shouldn’t.
He swallows thickly, ready to guide her further into the archives of her family’s company. It had been quiet ( a lot more than he’d wished for ), and although he was positive that he had already made up his mind, her voice still rings in the back of his head. Continuously. His eyes are focused on the wall ahead of him, trying to somehow force her voice out of his head.
‘What are we doing here?’
‘Just come with me.’ Without giving her any other explanation, his hand suddenly reaches out for hers to pull her along. She might have not been aware of the situation, but the slightest hint of fear and confusion had been enough to convince him altogether. This was a really, really bad idea. ‘We need to go, quickly. Just follow.’
