One of the largest projects I’ve ever worked on was a new mural on the Trinity Strand Trail in the Design District here in Dallas. I was commissioned by Jim Lake Co. to come up with some concepts for this large span of wall space they had available. I was so excited that I worked the same day on coming up with two quick sketches and sent them over right away. A few weeks later I had a sit-down meeting with them in person and they approved my drawings to move forward with the mural. That was the easy part.

Over the course of the next month I navigated uncharted territory with renting commercial lift equipment, getting quotes on giant pounce patterns, and stressing over how in the hell I was gonna paint an area of 92′ x 16′ in 40 hours. But in my experience I’ve found nothing is ever harder than taking that first step. Four days later I stepped down from the scaffolding to look at the giant wall before me and felt a great sense of relief. It was finished.
