Kylemore Castle also known as Kylemore Abbey, is located in Connemara, Country Galway, Ireland. The castle was originally built between 1867 and 1871 as a private home for the family of Mitchell Henry, a wealthy politician from Manchester, England. In 1920, the Irish Benedictine Nuns purchased the castle and lands after they were forced to flee Ypres, Belgium, during World War I. The name Kylemore originates from the Irish word Coi.
