While I am no expert on smart-phones
I just traded in my flip phone (hey, I take care of my crap, so what if it was 9 years old, it still worked!) for a smart phone almost three weeks ago....
I will say that while I love the dual touch screens on my Echo, the fact that it's hinged in the middle and folds out (Wait... does this mean I still have a flip phone? Can I call it a smart flip phone... that's mildly retarded?) and there is this giant black bar splitting the screen in half is really fucking annoying.
Even though it's 3g and I live less than 6 miles from an acceptable tower it only gets regularly 2 bars and only rarely connects to anything at all, including the sprint mobile thing.
And because it powers two screens, the battery life on it is about 2 hours.... 4.5 if I do nothing but use it to make calls. Seriously, the box comes with a spare battery and wall charger for it. That I can't get cases for it is more annoying than a minus at this point.
This phone just sucks. I'm really missing my flip phone. It couldn't run apps and I could never have any decent ring tones on it, at least the damn thing never went dead and actually worked.
Here are some random images I found on google to illustrate my point: (one I drew on)
The dual screens and that damn bar in the middle makes watching videos or playing games a pain in the ass.
How it folds and where the hinge is placed:
