Luna starts calling the chocobros by the nicknames Noctis calls them.
Ignis cooked dinner with Gladio’s help while the other three sat around the campfire. Prompto was on the ground between Noctis and Luna in their chairs, and he was scrolling through the photos he had taken during their day’s adventure, showing them off.
“Oh, nice one, Prom,” Noctis grinned as he showed off one of the prince warping through the air, a trail of blue behind him as he landed the killing blow on their enemy.
“Anyone would look cool being able to do that, it’s no fair,” Prompto pouted, grinning when Noct gave his shoulder a friendly smack.
Continuing on, they went through a few more before finding one of the Alstor Slough in the early morning, giving everything a quiet and warm feel. “Prom, that one is beautiful,” Luna remarked with a smile.
“Eh? Ah? Y-Yeah? You think so, Lunafreya?” Prompto stuttered, surprised by her use of a nickname. Not that he minded one bit, but it caught him off guard, and he was blushing at the notion.
Gladio came over, handing out sodas and water to the three, “Dinner’s just about ready.”
“Thanks, Gladio,” Noct raised his soda before taking a sip.
Prompto got up to put his camera away, and Luna took the bottle of water handed to her with a grateful smile, “Thank you, Gladio.”
“Mm? Sure thing…,” he mumbled, hesitating just a moment at the first time she had shortened his name, and then he shrugged it off, returning to help Ignis with the plates and handing out everyone’s dish.
They shared their meal with comfortable conversation, and when they finished, Ignis went around collecting their dishes. As she handed hers up to him, Luna nodded gratefully with a smile, “Thank you. Dinner was wonderful as always, Iggy.”
“Ah? Thank you, Lunafreya…,” he spoke in a somewhat strained voice, unsure of how to address the drop in formality.
After he stepped away, Noctis reached over and tugged at her sleeve, frowning in a way that reminded her of a child that was about to argue that someone had gotten more juice in their cup than he did, and he pointed at himself with a pout.
When he didn’t say anything, Luna looked at him curiously and tilted her head, “What is it, Noctis?”
His shoulders fell and he wilted, crossing his arms on the armerest and hunching uncomfortably to rest his chin on his arms. He had forgotten just how low the armrests were in the camp chairs, but he was committed to the show of dejection now.
Prompto laughed from the other side of the fire and called out, “Aw! I think he’s jealous! Everyone else gets called a nickname but him!”
“Huh? …Oh!” Luna gasped and covered her mouth, laughing suddenly after a moment. She was a bit embarrassed with herself, and she giggled softly as Noct continued to pout up at her after shooting a glare Prompto’s way. “I’m sorry… I must have been picking up the names from you, I didn’t mean… Uhm, Sorry, N-Noct….”
