prosperina, the goddess of wine, spring, agriculture, and fertility daughter of ceres, the two are often called “Mother and Maiden.” she’s the wife of pluto, and every year she leaves to the underworld for four - six months to be with him, causing ceres to sulk, which in turn causes fall and winter.

ceres, roman nature goddess ceres is the goddess of agriculture, grain, motherly relationships, fertility, and others. she is credited with showing humans how to grow wheat, and stopping famine.

Roman Goddess: Ceres

Ceres is an Roman nature goddess. She’s the goddess of agriculture, grain, motherly relationships, fertility, transitions, harvest, and law and order, among others(growth, nourishment, fruitfulness, seasons, ect). 

Her and Demeter are often grouped together as the same, but it’s important to note that they are two completely different goddesses!

Child of Saturn and Ops, Ceres is the daughter of a titan(Greek term but seems to be used in Roman mythology too). Both her parents are nature/agriculture deities. 

Ceres is part of the 12 main gods and goddesses of Rome. This group is called the Dii Consentes/Dei Consentes. They are considered the equivalent to the Twelve Olympians.

Around 10,000 or so years ago, grain was starting to be cultivated. While popular belief was that grain was cultivated for bread and other foods like that, new evidence suggests that they were cultivated for beer. Because of this, Ceres could be considered a goddess of intoxication, considering that she’s responsible for giving man the gift of agriculture, and teaching them how to grow crops(well known for teaching man how to grow grain).
