And on the two year anniversary of Keeping Your Promise being published to AO3, I’ll say this:

I would have never guessed what a little story about kylo ren would have turned my life into, but I will never ever discount that I have never been happier than I am now. Even if I seem sad and violently depressed all the time.

Because two years later I have more people in my life that truly love me and care about me and that I love and care for more than I ever thought I could.

And two years later I’m not scared. Not in the same paralyzed way I was. Im actively putting myself out there, I’m more open to having someone know me and love me for who I am, even when it feels impossible at times.

Two years later I am a woman I am proud of, one that isn’t driven by academic success and one that lets herself feel and feel and feel.

Because maybe KYP was a little story born from boredom and fear of what was to come with the pandemic, but it turned into one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

I appreciate the continued patience with new content related to it, it’s coming, but I’m focusing on me right now. And KYP is what really started me on the path to be able to do that.

Keeping Your Promise fanart

Keeping Your Promise is a lovely fic by @strongtwiheart​ that has all potential to wreck me for the next few months and I love it more day by day I you want to understand the context of the particular line featured in this drawing, go read the fic ;) I was inspired by the art style of the Killing Stalking manhwa

We never got to see the conversation when Móni told Kyp about her feelings towards a certain somebody because of the time skip… but it definitely went down like this.

One of my favorite things in ch 10 of DBW is the glimpse we get of Luke and Kyp’s visit to Yavin and the unexpected encounter with Exar Kun that precipitated the entire fic. 

It comes in little flashes:

- He remembered walking down a stone corridor in one of the smaller temples, sweat beading on his skin in the humidity, the stale, moldy air an uncomfortable contrast to the earthy, fragrant jungle scents that rioted outside the ancient walls. Someone had been talking as they stepped into a large chamber...

- There was a vague idea of movement. Adrenaline and shouting. Something old and evil. Fear, razor-edged and icy - not his own. From outside him - from Kyp? A laugh, deeper and richer than the Emperor’s had been, but carrying the same Dark power and malice. The name Kun in his head, though he couldn’t say now if he’d properly heard it or who had said it. Then there was only blackness, until the shuttle. 

- The first thing he remembered was the press of the bandage against his head and his leg refusing to bend when he tried to sit up.

I cringe a little when I think of the poor NR exploration team sent to help Luke and Kyp do a preliminary tour of the Yavin site to see if it has potential as a future Academy campus. There they are, looking at boring structural crap and thinking about codes and policies and budgets and how much they can’t wait for a shower as they walk down this hall in a creepy, humid, moldy old pyramid -- and then all of the sudden their Jedi spasms hard enough to crack a bone, his eyes roll straight back into his head, and then he’s seizing on the floor. 

The apprentice is screaming, but no one has any idea what’s wrong but omg if it can hurt a Jedi we’re boned -- and then Luke is deadly still on the floor, the apprentice is cackling and shrieking madly and bolts, and wtf do we do now??

It is implied, of course, that they handle themselves admirably, but you just know that not a single member of that team ever took a job surveying anything more interesting or enclosed than an open-air municipal parking structure for the rest of their lives. 

As for Luke, he wakes up muddled and in pain and to news that his apprentice has stolen a ship and fled while apparently insane or possessed or something. 

He spends the trip back to Coruscant huddled in a healing trace in a tiny fold-out bunk, then launches right into Hero Mode when they reach Coruscant. He hasn’t really had time to deal with that trauma yet, still so caught up in the aftermath, but it’s a safe bet he’ll never approach exploration trips the same again...
