The Green Ninjas: Prologue and Chapter 1
Before we begin, let me say that this fic was conceptualized when only one trailer was out. The writing of the first chapters were completed before the movie entered the theaters. This means there will most likely be plot divergences from the movie.
But then again, that’s only to be expected when you give Lloyd Garmadon an older brother.
“No, it’s me! Lukas! Your son!”
“Lukas? No, it can’t be.”
“Pah. How could I ruin your life? I haven’t even been a part of it!”
Lloyd knows that something’s wrong as soon as his nerd tutor is called away.
The summoning call never sounds during his classes. Dad has more than enough nerds at his disposal, so Lloyd’s tutors almost never have to stop their lessons to go to him. So what’s up now?
“Stay here,” says the nerd.
Lloyd waits a grand total of thirteen seconds before setting down his work and slipping out after her. Ten years of living in a secret base teaches you all the essential sneaking skills you need to get around. Then again, who would dare to challenge him? He’s the son of Garmadon. And unless you want to get fired from a volcano, you don’t say anything about him.
Dad’s pacing before the monitors in the control center. The nerds type away on their laptops, the clickity-clackity of keys filling the room. Lloyd tucks himself into the shadows, glad to not be wearing his new Iron Dragon pauldrons. The feed from Dad’s mech plays on the monitors, and glinting armor would be a dead giveaway.
It looks like a typical city raid- Dad says the only way to improve the city is to start from the bottom- complete with the Secret Ninja Force showing up after he destroys a couple buildings.
Lloyd freezes. He had to hear that wrong. The green ninja couldn’t just have called Lloyd’s dad his dad, right?
“Nothing. I said nothing! I said I’ll be waiting and then I stopped talking… Dad!”
The green ninja rips off his hood. His eyes are green. His hair is blond. And he looks exactly like Lloyd.
“Tell me everything about Lukas Garmadon!”
“Lukas Garmadon- the least liked person in Ninjago City,” reports a nerd.
“That’s right! It’s me, your son!”
“His guardian is listed as a Master Wu,” says another.
“My own son is my greatest enemy.” Dad sounds like all his energy has been drained away. “This is pretty heavy.” He whirls on General #1. “Is the Lady Iron Dragon here?”
The shark general snaps to attention. “No sir!”
Dad whips out his phone. “Leave me!” he shouts. “I must have privacy.”
The nerds file out of the control center in record time. Lloyd wavers. Should he go too? But his curiosity wins out.
Dad’s shoulders slump once everyone’s gone. “Why did you leave him with Wu, Koko?”
Lloyd slouches against the wall. Lukas. Lukas Garmadon. His brother. He has a brother. A brother that he hasn’t heard about for ten years.
As Dad types into his phone, Lloyd gets up and creeps out of the room. One thing’s for sure- he’s got to know more about this mysterious brother.
And that will involve something he’s never done before.
