after meeting gladys, veronica tries to make it more of a habit to visit her at pop’s. she’s also insistent on visiting her at the whyte wyrm. snakes don’t scare someone like veronica & she’s usually fearless for that. but she finds that gladys is someone who can really be there & actually listen to her. it’s not something she gets with her mom, even if they are close & veronica’s trying to protect her. sometimes, ronnie thinks that her mother is clearly there for the business rather than family. it’s an odd feeling when she connects more with a stranger than her own parent.
veronica will always bring gladys a midnight snack for her break. veronica will pack a few things from home because she can’t cook to save her life unless it’s to support her caffeine addiction. but she always drops it around the time of g’s break before heading home. she knows gladys worries with a killer out there on a loose & it’s not like gladys doesn’t have enough to worry about.
veronica is envious that gladys cares so much for her children. it’s clear to veronica with the way she works double shifts how much she wants to support her children, give them an environment they want to come to. she doesn’t press gladys for information, veronica just wants her to know that she’ll be there for her pseudo-mom.
veronica likes to ask gladys about what her mom was like during high school. it’s weird to think that her mother, an esteemed socialite would hail from a small town like riverdale. yet, ronnie is starting to get the appeal of the small town a bit. she also asks small questions about g’s high school experience, only trying to get a little bit here & there of the person she admires.
