I thought L.U.S.T. was a drug? It can't spread like a virus... can it?

Classifying LT as a virus is actually quite accurate.

In a sense, it is a drug. It does not occure naturally in the souls of monsters, instead being a substance from the human soul. In this way, it is very much like drugs we get from plants.

In another, it is very much not a drug. It self replicates, which is a key attribute for viruses.

Why else would Lust so quickly and anxiously deny Soul on Soul contact? Its already pre-stablished EMV canon that direct exposure to the soul can cause LT to infect other monsters.

And certain other means of ingestion must work as well, since otherwise its problems when being treated like a drug wouldn’t exist.

So, yes, technically LT isn’t a drug so much as a virus. because it does self propogate and it does seek to replicate (both itself and its host)

And viruses adapt.

Would children of monsters suffering from LT be affected in anyway? Would a LT affected monster be able to even hold a pregnancy? I'm dummy stupid so sorry if this was implied somewhere.

I don’t think LT has ever been tested on children, but if i were to guess...

LT being present in the parent would lower the chances of that parent being the “mom” in the first place. Soullings seek out the most hospitable parent and chose to live in that one until they’re born. Between a parent with LT and one without, the one without is the optimum in many cases.

Of course, other factors like energy level, health, size, body type and adaptability, stress levels, and LV also play a role. So it isnt like two parents with LT cant conceive, its just highly unlikely.

Furthermore, since LT is all about propagation, a parent with LT would have their body automatically shift to maximize successfully carrying to term. All the LT would focus on the kid.

Say for example Lust got knocked up. His super strength? Gone. He’s very weak and tired now. His unusual body heat? Gone. That energy is feeding the kiddo now. His need to fuck? Gone. He’s got a kid, he doesn’t need fucc anymore. Thats how it would be until he gave birth. He’d be cold all the time after being so used to having a built in heater, exhausted and sleepy and napping at all hours, and ravenous for food to keep his systems running at full.

If a kid was born of a parent with LT, it would likely mean the kid would either be born with it dormant until puberty, or have antibodies against it. or both. but they would be dummy strong and healthy.

None of this has been touched upon in the fic to begin with, since none of it is relevant to the plot. I’m. honestly surprised anyone cared to ask?

Another worldbuilding question thats a bit weird so bear with me, but like,,, how do LT affected monsters deal with staying in certain places for extended amounts of time? Like if they were emitted into a hospital or rehab center for a stay that happened to be a bit longer than they could go without sex for, how would it work for them? Like would the estabishment hire sex workers for them on put it on their bill? Not sure how to work my thoughts correctly so im sorry lol

they either dont go, leave early, or they die i guess. places like that probably wont hire prostitutes for liability reasons. drugs might help prolong the inevitable, stave it off and reduce symptoms, but they cant last for long if they dont get laid.

so. yeah. slow painful death.

Last ask from the virus anon (I swear!) Would Dance's LV/cold trigger be overridden by L.U.S.T.'s tendency to change the perception of the ambient temperature? (Meaning he won't be as sensitive to LV anymore.)

He would still be sensitive to it, but it would feel very very good
