garrett  had  fallen  hard  for  hannah  from  the  beginning.  not  that  he  would  have  acknowledged  that  in  the  beginning,  but  he  definitely  had  strong  feelings  from  the  jump.  so  the  more  garrett  learned  about  her  .  .  .  the  more  he  cared.  at  this  point,  he  didn’t  know  where  he  would  be  without  her.  she’d  changed  his  life  for  the  better.  and  it  wasn’t  just  anyone  that  he’d  risk  his  hockey  season  for.  coach  wasn’t  happy,  but  when  garrett  gave  the  bare  bones  reasoning?  he’d  understood.  punishment  was  limited.  thankfully.

❝  no,  ❞  he  admitted  when  she  asked  if  it  hurt  .  .  .  and  that  was  because  he’d  been  so  fueled   by  adrenaline.  nothing  hurt  when  you  were  seeing  red,  but  he  appreciated  her  kisses  all  the  same.  then  she’s  shoving  him  and  the  mood  shifts  (  not  in  a  bad  way  )  and  he  can’t  hide  his  smile  in  response.  ❝  i  don’t  back  you  up  because  you  need  it,  wellsy.  you’re  the  strongest  girl  i  know.  i  back  you  up  because  i  want  to.  you  deserve  someone  in  your  corner,  and  that’s  going  to  be  me  every  single  time.  ❞  garrett  looked  at  hannah,  watching  her  as  she  spiraled,  there  was  question  after  question,  and  garrett  just  sat  there  .  .  .  waiting  for  a  natural  end.  then  the  opportunity  came  and  garrett  took  in  a  deep  breath,  ❝  i’m  not  in  trouble.  i  told  coach  the  .  .  .  basics.  it’s  up  to  you  if  you  want  to  give  the  whole  story.  ❞  he  took  her  hand  in  his,  ❝  your  comfort  comes  first  here.  whatever  you  think  is  best  for  you,  that’s  what  i  want  too.  ❞
