Although Damien tries to avoid Instagram as much as possible, he does use two other social media platforms fairly frequently. His Snapchat is frequently active, and is again reserved only for friends and “family”. While the app supposedly makes snaps sent vanish after a few seconds, Damien isn’t stupid enough to trust that. So it’s just another handy little way of covering his tracks and keeping up appearances, but one which is better suited to his sense of humor than Instagram.

As for his Tinder profile, it was originally set up as a joke by Izidora and some other friends who thought it would be an amusing welcome present when he first arrived in the US. Turns out Damien now lands at least a third of his sexual partners through there, despite the cheesy intro and some of his photo choices—a fact which now haunts the original perpetrators of the joke and delights Damien to no end.

The only public social media that Damien has any hand in is the Instagram for his art gallery, La Belle Epoque (@labelle_epoque). Even there, however, he is rarely permitted to post on it unless he promises to be on his best behavior. He’s been known to try to post lewd pictures of himself being naughty to art installations, though some suspect he did this as an excuse to get out of having to run the account himself. He doesn’t really enjoy social media, not for its own sake, but because of how easy it makes it for his enemies and the authorities to keep track of him. So he has ensured that La Belle’s Instagram is in the capable hands of his employees, thus keeping the gallery’s image pristine and professional while removing him from it as much as possible.

However, he’s not been allowed to escape from social media entirely. His good friend Melanie Derrieux helped him set up a private Instagram account for himself, @dame_olivier, and even showed him how to make it secure from anyone he doesn’t wish to find it. This is exclusively for friends and “family”, and therefore his following/follower count is kept very small. Even then, he maintains a very squeaky-clean image on here, and only posts himself every few weeks or on special occasions. Sometimes Melanie gets on and posts for him (she made the account, after all), and the mafia is rewarded with Damien’s famous duck-lips pose.

“Am… am I not allowed to say ‘all of them’? Quelle horreur, that is positively dastardly of you. Well… hmph. I suppose I can’t hide the fact that Jean is my closest friend in the world, can I? He’s my number two, as you Americans like to say. Then, of course, there’s Izi. Where would I be without her, other than six feet under and terribly bored with being dead? Gabriel must be mentioned, he has proved to be utterly invaluable to us all (though to me in particular, I must say). And I could never leave out my dearest Lucy, who truly understands my humor and my tastes better than most people.

“Oh, and I would be remiss not to give a glowing note of commendation for a rising star in our ranks: young Mademoiselle O’Brien. Truly a diamond in the rough—I’m ever so glad she fell into our laps.”
