Jane rolled her eyes, giving the other woman a disbelieving look. Did this woman really take Jane for an idiot? Everyone she started off with always started with the ‘I didn’t do it’ or ‘I don’t know’ but by the end, they were squealing like a pig. While she was a criminal, Selina was one of the only criminals in Gotham Jane actually liked.

      “Be real, Kitty Cat, you’re somehow always involved in everything that goes on in Gotham. Or you at least know about it. So let’s try this again. And this time tell me the truth about what the hell is going on.”

Slinking. A shadow that couldn't be caught, a phantasmal entity that escaped with elusive awareness to those that dare try to counter and corner the infamous Catwoman. She was a slip, a mere fallacy of fantasy and something that couldn't be contained. But even on the discourteous eve, she felt a presence about her--something powerful. Or rather, someone. "Who's there?" demand sounded, audience attained only upon that whom had dared to defile the sanctity of the night.

The shadows into which Selina Kyle sent her commanding summons shuddered.  They rippled like the deceitfully calm surface of an evening lake.  A breathy chuckle, a sly, vaguely sinister array of "eheheh's," carried across the gasoline-scented urban breeze.  

The only thing that emerged from the dark corner on the top of a Gotham skyscraper, from that intoxicating aura of power and regality and cunning and secrecy, was a small black cat with jade green eyes.  It mewled coaxingly and sat across from the Catwoman, bathing its ears and waiting with the patience that only an immortal could possess.  

Do you think I would answer that question without a bit of a barter, Midgardian? a tenor like wet silk, husky yet crisp, intoned inside the woman's head.

The Joke's on La-Chatte-Noir

A mocking purr came out of the Joker as he soon let out a snort toward the woman. "Well, if it isn't the pussy cat." He was more sour over her existence than intrigued. Though, the glimmer of the moon onto her did make him wonder what her blood would look like smeared on the bricks of the buildings around them. It'd probably look like a child's masterpiece on the wall of the living room. And big bad Batman would be the disapproving mother coming to scold him for such an inappropriate act. "How many lives do you have left? I can't seem to recall, perhaps I lost count." He let out a laugh, giving the woman a small, courteous bow. Sarcasm seemed to shine off of him with the gesture.

"I can probably find out for myself how many lives are left! What are you doing this evening, hmmmm? Out for a little walk before you steal some more? Stealing is a crime, pussy cat, shame on you."

The shadows hid his monstrous frame impossibly well, though for a man who's spent most of his life without the smile of the sun, it wasn't all too implausible for him to know a thing or two of darkness.      "You should keep account of all the locks in your home and if they're foolproof or not. It'll lead to less cases of breaking and entering. For a thief, I was under the impression you would know this and have improved your home security.      "It is obvious, señorita, I do not stand corrected." That thick South American accent filled her ears intimately, before the breath hitting against the side of her face had been gone and the lights turned on with her former employer standing on the far side of the room.
