    left prosthetic was settled against the bed-frame, no longer attached to mercury’s thigh.  gloved fingers massaged at the flesh, aching and sore, rubbed raw where ice cold metal had worn away at his skin.   the cold always bothered him most.    there’s a pained grimace on his mouth, one he doesn’t manage to hide before he notices the girl staring at him from the door frame.      

   ❛     what the hell are you doing?     ❜    he spat, scrambling to reattach the prosthetic, to no avail.   it was something that required finesse, not speed, but mercury had always gotten on the defensive where this sort of thing was concerned.      ❛     stop staring.   you never seen somethin’ like this, or what?   if you got a question, spit it out, or fuck off.     ❜
