A Short Trip to Normandy

In August we decided to make a short trip across the channel. After arriving at our hote - La Maison de Lucie, we poured over the local restaurant guide to decide where to go for dinner. 

Aftery trying to decide between 'Au petit Mareyeur', 'Le Breard' and 'SaQuaNa' we opted to drive out of the town which was bustling with tourists to the quiet commune of Vasouy and to the Relais&Chateaux Hotel - La Chaumiere.

We uncovered a gem. The sun set over the mouth of the Seine as we enjoyed a glass of champagne on the terrace before moving inside the charming and typically Normad cottage where we would find a wonderfully renovated dining room. 

We ordered the samon tartare and the tomato and buffalo mozzarella tartlet to start and moved on to fillet of salmon and steak and pureed potato for the main course. The steak was slightly tough but the rest of the food was flawless. The food was accompanied by a Guilleminot Champagne which was an unknown label to us but one which we have noted for the future!

For dessert we shared the chocolate moelleux which finished off our experience in a perfect fashion. The service, the food and the restaurant experience on this warm summer evening was first class. We will be back.

In the morning we took a lovely brunch at 'La Petite Chine' on Rue du Dauphin. Brioche, hot chocolate, scones, baguettes, juices and a selection of teas topped off our weekend. Before leaving we picked up a box of La Petite Chine's Macaroons so that we could take a taste of Honfleur back to London.
