Another great day on our #england tour. We started on the red coast of the #jurassiccoastworldheritagesite @jurassiccoastofficial at Sidmouth and #ladrambay where we saw #triassic river channels and had a refreshing swim. We then moved on to #dawlish where we saw #permian desert dune deposits and breccias along side the main train line. In the afternoon we reached the #englishriviera #unesco #geopark @englishrivieraglobalgeopark in the county of #devon which lends its name to the #devonian period. Our first stop was the amazing @kents_cavern a cave in #devonian #limestone. In these caves 3 different species of hominids have lived and a 44,000 year human jaw bone has been found. Hundreds of #cavebear #fossils as well as #hyena #lions and #mammoth have also been found. We then walked out to #hopesnose where in the past native gold has been found. We saw many different minerals, brachiopod fossils, a raised beach and an old iron mine.
