Madeline couldn’t help but chuckle as she rode her horse just behind him, one hand on the reins of her horse and the other gently stroking the side of his neck. She could tell that her horse was feeling nervous and she knew how to keep him calm.
She glanced up to where the other assassin was before gently ducking under the branch and she went into a deep thought.
“Is he all right?” Arno asked, knowing the telltale signs of a stressed horse. As skilled as a rider as she might have been, anyone could be thrown if something made him spook. “Does his need a break? There are red deer and boar out in these woods, wouldn’t want his to hurt himself, or you for that matter.”
Horses were powerful, and dangerous, even the gentlest could cause harm without meaning to simply because of their size. In such dense woodland, he couldn’ t blame it for being on edge if it was used to riding in the city or open country roads. He’d honestly gotten lucky with horses with more adventurous spirit, the silver mare he sat atop was especially keen to learn.
