allowing high school girls to make their own decisions about their clothing/presentation is extremely important for their growth and self-identity. hs isn’t work, it’s hs and 14-18 y/o girls should b able to wear bedazzled things if it empowers them
whats keeping people from wearing what they want to outside of school tho
its not like you spend every waking moment of your life in a school. like i was homeschooled but im pretty sure thats not how it works
also the whole growth self identity thing happens to ppl at different times and different ages and for different reasons. i didnt hit that phase until well out of highschool.
hey! i saw that gif set that you just posted ("each bruise is a lesson and each lesson makes us stronger") and i totally understand it in the context of asoiaf but the individual quote out of context makes me REALLY uncomfortable; it sounds really abusive and victim blame-y. thoughts?
Aw, sweetheart, I can see how you would feel that way.
Personally, I think of the bruise as a metaphor for a rough situation.
How a person is able to cope and bear the pain can be a lesson for themselves—they learn how strong they truly are, and what they are capable of. In addition, it can also reveal other aspects of people to them (i.e. Sansa being abused by Joffrey), and in that manner, can make them better by becoming more worldly.
So I believe it’s more of a comforting notion to those who suffer—you are not weak or damaged because of what you’ve faced, but rather stronger and more experienced. You’ve survived something difficult, you’re a champion, not a victim.

ngl I really feel like I dodged a bullet with that
because I was just young and sheltered and ignorant enough about kink back then (and also vulnerable to being creeped on by older guys as an abuse survivor) that i would have very easily gotten sucked into that scene
but seeing my BFF's RPs just...man all kinds of red flags went up and i avoided it
