@ladyahsoka Chris!!!!!!!!! I’m so sorry it took so long but here it is!!!!

“This is where we part,” he said, looking down at the child. The boy looked up at him, and for a second Obi Wan was sure he understood him. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, gently rocking the bundle in his arms. 

The boy, if he understood at all, did not show it. 

Obi Wan ran a finger gently over the boy’s brow, 

“So much like your father,” he murmured. At this, the boy smiled wide, a small coo came from him that made Obi Wan’s heart clench. His grip tightened on the boy as he looked out over the hill at the farm. In a few short moments, he would be there, handing the boy over to his family. 

It was a safe option, the safest, in fact. 

But it was not the right one. He thought of Leia on Alderaan and the life she would have there, he thought of Padme, of Anakin, and of the world left in their wake. And he looked down at the boy and knew, with full certainty, this was not the life for the boy. He had been down this road once before but back then he hadn’t been given a choice. Back then he had a code to follow, a purpose he served. 

But all of that was gone now. 

And for the first time in a long time, Obi Wan had a choice of his own to make. 

Obi Wan sighed, and looked back down at the boy, eyes looking intently up at him, a frown appearing on his face. Obi Wan’s own expression softened, 

“And that’s your mother’s,” he said softly. He relaxed and pulled the bundle close, 

“This is no planet for a Skywalker,” he said to him. “I hear Alderaan is nice this time of year.”

The boy smiled and gurgled at him and reached out one, tiny hand towards him, and Obi Wan smiled back, a genuine smile for the first time in a very long time. 

or, an AU where Obi Wan takes Luke to Alderaan and lets him and Leia grow up together, as part of the Organa family, and Obi Wan stays on as Royal Advisor to the twins because that gives us a much happier ending.
