IM giving everyone a Sneak Peak of my comic called “Through The Eyes Of Someone Special” It’s going to be angst/comfort/rom-com awesomeness! This will first start off with exciting battle scene and some identity reveal and choices! Hope you enjoy!
I was in the mood for some angtsy Adrienette and MariChat so this multi-fic is probably going to be written by the end of this week (maybe Sunday). The setting is in the future where Ladybug, Chat Noir, Queen Bee and Vixen are still fighting Hawkmoth. All are at least at the beginning middle of their Freshman year in college!
Anyways, I feel really confident about this and I dedicate this chapter to a big inspiration @pozolegirl! Thank you for really inspiring me with your writing and your love of the MLB fandom!
Marinette was terrified.
That morning Alya psyched her up, gave her the brief confidence to do what she had dreaded since her Sophomore year; telling Adrien Agreste her feelings. She was lucky she wasn’t the stammering silly girl from high school, and in fact she was good friends with Adrien, but growing older didn’t shake her feelings for him. They went to the same college together, Adrien studying for a Physics major and Marinette an Art and Illustration major. Every Wednesday evening, Alya, Marinette and Adrien, would get together at the bakery to study and help each other with their general classes. Adrien always got there early and Alya took that as a perfect opportunity to get Adrien alone. Alya planned on “being late” and BAM! Perfect couple by 4:30! Marinette saw the flaws, but agreed to the plan anyways. She was ready to get it over with.
Marinette got to the bakery at 3:45. She waited for Adrien with a hot green tea and an intense itch to do something with her hands, so she did her English homework. Finally around 4, Adrien popped into the bakery. He had changed a lot since high school. He grew nearly a foot and four inches above Marinette’s 5′7 frame. The baby fat he held on his cheeks in high school had slimmed out and was replaced by a sharp jaw line and defined cheekbones. His skin held a little bit of tan from his summer vacation to Barcelona and it accented his emerald orbs and newly cut and quaffed honey blonde hair. It was no surprise he was one of Paris’ most popular models.
“Hey Marinette,” he greeted with a kind smile and slouched into his chair.
She slid a double chip chocolate muffin towards Adrien in a shy manner, “I went ahead and got your usual for you.”
Adrien took the muffin and his eyes flickered to where Alya normally sat, then back to Marinette, “you didn’t get Alya anything?”
U-uhm-” She stumbled into the excuse, “S-she uh, Alya texted me that um, not to get anything b-because...it’d be too cold!” The bluenette blushed deeply and realized she had said the last part way too loud, “the-the drink I mean...the drink would be too cold when she gets here...”
“Okay...”Adrien held a startled expression on his face from the outburst and reached for his binder next to his elbow. “I was wondering if you would help me with my English homework-”
Marinette reached across the table with a flaming face and touched Adrien’s hand that was opening the binder. His eyes met her’s and she panicked, “Ihaveaconfession!” She blurted loudly and quickly removed her hand from Adrien’s, embarrassed. The boy stared at her curiously as she continued, “We-we have been friends for a while now? Right?”
“Yea, we have Mari, what’s wrong?”
“N-nothing’s wrong it’s just...” Her hands shook and she hid them under the table, “we...well, I have-you remember the day you gave me your umbrella?” He nodded and she took a deep breath, “I guess you-you were really kind and truthful and i guess I have-I have had strong feelings towards you...since then.” Marinette realized she had her eyes squeezed shut and she opened them slowly, for fear she would encounter disappointment and mock.
Instead, Marinette watched as confusion took hold of his facial expression, then thought, followed by realization. His cheeks tinged pink and he broke eye contact, he then fiddled with his discarded muffin wrapper.
“Look Mari,” the tone in his voice suggested rejection, and Marinette sensed it. She tensed, briefed her brain and readied herself. “You’re a great friend and...” Adrien trailed off and looked into Marinette’s bluebell eyes, watched unwanted tears well up in them. He couldn’t find the strength to reject her and in some ways he felt he wanted to accept and return the feelings, but Ladybug sat in the middle forefront of his mind, “I think I need to think about this.”
Quick, he stood and stuffed his binder back in his computer bag and retreated from the bakery as Alya entered. He uttered a brief hello and looked at Marinette a second longer before he made his exit. Alya could tell everything went awry; from the look on her friends face, to the sheer fact Adrien’s muffin sat unwrapped but untouched.
“Did he say anything?” Alya asked as she approached her friend and eased a gentle hand on Marinette’s shoulder.
“He...needs to think about it,” Marinette mumbled.
Alya frowned, “c’mon girl, lets get home. Studying can be held off until tomorrow. There are more important things like...mint ice cream and Leonardo DiCaprio.”
“So you left the girl there?” Plagg questioned, “that was stupid.”
“Shut up Plagg.” Adrien mumbled and flopped onto his bed, “I was in shock! I didn’t know she felt that way!”
“Took her long enough to tell you,” Plagg flew over to a platter of Camembert Adrien brought home. “It’s been torture watching you be so oblivious to her affections.”
Adrien glared at his kwami before he shoved his face into a pillow and let out a muffled groan. To think she had liked him this long. He understood the stutters and the awkward tics she had around him, it all made sense now, but he couldn’t decipher how he felt. Marinette was one of his best friends and yes he had felt things towards her before, yet his heart was set on Ladybug.
“This is complicated Plagg...” Adrien rolled over and faced the ceiling.
“Make a list of all the things you know about Ladybug and Marinette, then decide who you like more. Simple.” Plagg reasoned with a mouth full.
Adrien narrowed his eyes at his kwami, “you have no knowledge of girls Plagg.”
“Ah, but I do have knowledge that this Camembert is delicious!”
“Ah, perfect!” Hawkmoth exclaimed in a primal delight. “A broken heart, the perfect disease...”
The cruel man entered the girl’s mind, and invaded every thought and memory leading up to that moment, relishing in the sorrow that radiated off the girl in waves. He reached into her subconscious, tugged and pulled until he was the only thing to listen to in her mind.
“Virus, I am Hawkmoth. I will let you gain your revenge, but only for one thing in return; Ladybug and Chat Noir’s miraculous’! Now go, infect and cripple the hearts who crippled yours!”
The akumatized victim transformed in the middle of the sidewalk, the magic slipped up her arms and up to her neck with a gelatinous consistency. The purple butterfly outline her face, a cruel smile lit her face and her eyes blazed, “yes Hawkmoth.”
Where Marinette was the picture of youthful strength and vitality before becoming lady bug bit now when ladybug does miraculous ladybug! and everything gets fixed its because she absorbs the damage. It's taken the form of a very rare cancer and they're hoping they defeat hawk moth before it kills her. She hasn't told chat. But Tikki knows all the best ways of hiding it and making her feel better for a little while (this isn't her first ladybug after all). It could even go so far as to say adrein is the opposite. He was a very sickly boy before becoming chat noir (all the model fasting and being cooped inside the house his whole life) but every time he uses cataclysm to destroy something he absorbs its vitality. Chat noir is getting stronger and healthier while ladybug is getting weaker and sicker.
