so many times a youtuber/reactor will share their perspective on a piece of media, only to have most of their "viewers" not even bother watching it, and instead use the comment section as a means to rant about what they personally thought on it, which often ends up either being contradictory to the poster's own views, or something that the poster had already covered in their video. which they'd know, if they'd bothered to watch.
take for example this youtube review:
in it, lady jenevia covers the scene where eloise is called out by her little sister hyacinth for not taking interest in her lessons which are preparing her for becoming a wife. her perspective was that while eloise being framed as selfish for not taking interest in the "unbearable" tasks of a female aristocrat would normally annoy her, because season 5 might be her season and she had already read the book, she viewed the scene as part of a string of events that involve eloise becoming so lonely and isolated that it pushes her towards marriage.
this ended up being her top comment:

like i don't think it's a stretch to say this is a symptom of ongoing media illiteracy- how are you supposed to have media discussions and engage in critical thinking when no one around you has the patience to listen to another person for a couple of minutes before using someone's platform to insert themselves as the main character?
