There were certain moments when his wife took Celeborn’s breath away entirely, usually moments when she did not know he was watching her, many times moments where he happened upon her on accident and found himself enthralled by the way that her hair glimmered in the light, by the way the sunrise painted her skin in pinks, and blues, and golds, by the wealth of power that inhabited her so effortlessly, almost unseen, but ever present in the bond that flowed between them. 

And so he found himself surprised, though he had meant to surprise her, that on this, the 5,000th anniversary of their marriage, he found her even more magnificent than the night he had first laid eyes on her. It made him feel uncharacteristically like a young man at the first blush of love and he clasped his hands nervously together. Who knew!” He cringed at the thought of what he was about to say next, certain he was about to earn his wife’s ire. “What I’m trying to say is I burned the house down!” He looked at the blackened, charred wreck, and at the firefighters who stood around shaking their heads.
