The Maudras for The Empress

Ok can we talk about Maudra Laesid for a moment?

I know Fara is pretty much everyone's favorite Maudra, mine too, and for obvious reasons, but Laesid... Laesid is by far one of the best characters let alone one of the best Maudras.

Besides Fara, she is the only other Maudra to openly call out Seladon on her bullshit and agree she is incapable of being the All-Maudra. She takes absolutely no shit from anyone, Seladon especially.

"You defile her legacy with that abomination."

This woman's got some serious Drenchen guts talking to her like that.

And one of my favorite things about her, she's not only supportive of Fara's challenge against Seladon for the Living Crown, she's also the only one who rushed to check on her after Seladon grabbed her mid-air and threw her across the fucking room into the stairs of the throne.

Not to mention, Laesid only has one leg and relies on a cane for support, but she willingly allows Fara to lean on her as they leave the Throne Room, with her obviously being in pain. Basically she's Fara's only true friend besides Baffi at this point.

And in these images, the look she gives Seladon and everyone in the room... if she gives you this look, you know you've done something wrong. Again, she's not having it with anyone who continues to show loyalty to the Skeksis, and rightfully so, considering her son was literally tortured and partially DRAINED. I'd be pretty fucking pissed if someone did that to my kid, to say the least.

And just a few more things:

1. It doesn't surprise me whose mother she is, we can clearly see where Naia got her kickass attitude from and where Gurjin got his boldness

2. She's the leader of one of the most badass and coolest clans. Why the Drenchen are deemed one of the lower clans is beyond me

3. She just looks amazing. Each Maudra has their own unique style and hers is one of the ones that stands out the most to me

4. Without spoiling anything: what she does in Flames of the Dark Crystal for her people. Those of you who have read know what I'm talking about

In summary, Laesid is by far one of the best Maudras. I love her to death and I hope we see more of her and the Drenchen clan in season 2.
