The subject of the painting is another demon hunter from the corps. I wondered to myself how old a demon hunter could push themselves until they couldn’t continue doing their job anymore, and what might help them survive in such a rigorous profession. To me, the sword is a beautiful weapon but it seems very much like a sidearm to a rifle, meant more as a status symbol and self defense; however, in the world of KNY, it is the primary weapon of choice. It occurred to me that the spear’s effectiveness would actually increase exponentially because of the rarity of the weapon in the series. I also figured that a veteran hunter who understands their rhythm and distances would have less need for protection and might favour comfort and ease of movement, so he took off his uniform’s shirt. A plain, drab green colour might help him blend in with the normal people of a village too, so perhaps he can lure his enemies into a false sense of security when they attack. This was an interesting idea to explore and I’m thoroughly enjoying the series.

Maybe somebody might suggest a name for him?
