Just heard from my dad that my sister was almost in a car accident, it literally was *this* close but luckily she recognised the situation and already hovered above the brake paddle. a week into artfight i would like to give out the following reminders: it is okay if you thought you were going to participate but ended up not having time. it is fine if you started out enthused and then lost steam. you do not owe anyone revenges. you are not 'behind' and you are not letting anybody down. it is a silly little game for fun. do not forget this.

No, your oc isn't too cringe or a Mary sue. Yes, it's completely fine that it looks similar to your other ocs. Yes it's completely fine that it looks similar to a Canon character design. No it's not uncreative. No the design isn't shitty. No the backstory doesn't have to make perfect sense or be all figured out. Yes it can be self indulgent or unrealistic or overly sappy. No you don't draw your favorite character too much. Yes you can flip flop between developing whatever characters you want. No you don't have to keep the parts of your character that you don't like or that make you uncomfortable just for the sake of consistency, realism or whatever else

Did you know. That it's okay to make imperfect characters. Did you know you don't owe anyone a certain level of quality or a certain style of writing.

Did you know, that you're allowed to have fucking fun.

Did you know that the rise of cringe culture, "Mary sues" and the whole sphere of art critics and ranters getting popular on YouTube around the 2010s/ 20teens contributed to alot of people having terrible self esteem about their creativity. That so many people still as adults remember the things they were mocked about as teens. Over what? Ocs? Drawing pictures of rainbow haired wolf princesses? Imagining they were dating sans undertale? Is that worth making people too scared to draw or make certain kinds of characters. Look in the notes. I guarantee you'll find more than one admitting they stopped doing something they loved because people made fun of them. For doing a hobby. For not being good enough.

You don't need to be good enough to do art. You can just do art. I'm rooting for you.
