Headcannon list
Can I please have:
• Lance having an extensive knowledge of people and history bc his family is so diverse and different. He knows the Real stories behind the non-white, not-straight, and mentally oppressed historical figures and icons and constantly brings it up throughout conversations and everyone is Shook™.
---Like someone is telling Allura and Coran about the space race and the people who made it happen and Pidge is all over that with making sure women were represented and then Lance just comes in like, "you make a good point, Pidge, but don't forget about the colored men and women who didn't get the credit they deserve or mixed men and women, or people who were struck from history for not being straight like (insert all these people I don't know of bc I'm ignorant)" and everyone just Stops (except Hunk bc he Knows)
And Allura and Coran are like, "that's terrible!" And Lance is like, "yeah, but lately people have become more open and a lot of great people in these minorities are being represented like-" and just rattles off a list of well-known and some not-so-well-known icons he kept up with before leaving Earth and just-
• Let Lance be Smart in other ways besides a hidden genius-- there are other ways to be smart besides book smart like Pidge. There's History Smart, and not-being-ignorant smart (like paying attention to things going on culture wise), or street smart, people smart, etc.
• I bet you Lance is someone who knows what to do if they're ever in a situation with little kids or getting people to come out if their shell or making sure someone is heard bc he does it all the time back home.
• Let my boy be knowledgeable in ways the Smarty people in the group don't think are considered smart and let him take them down by telling stories about diversity.
Example: They're at a planet with lots of aliens and curious minds and kids so they ask, "Could you tell us of Earth?" and set up little area for each paladin.
And Pidge starts talking science and her small fahm and breaking glass ceilings; and Hunk about food and family and school; and Shiro about work and culture and flying; and Keith about training and Shiro and knives (Im not doing my other bbs justice, I know) but Lance gets the big crowds.
Bc he's the heart. He talks about family and friends and dinner time with too many people and too much food but such a great time, and the beach and swimming and the sun and the sand, and about going to school and learning and hating it but doing it anyways so you could make your family proud, and being OK with being different bc if it'd be bland if no one was, and stories about little kids he's watched and surfing and romancing, and music and icons and how his sister has depression and is the smartest, funniest person he knows and how his parents being fluent in English and Spanish and yelling through the house in a mix of both that startles their neighbors and wanting to go to space so bad but being a minority and helping his brothers through middle school and high school and throwing birthday parties and playing guitar and singing and dancing and just- tells them about Earth through his eyes. The life, the love, the passion.
• There's a blue alien born among yellow colored aliens and getting pushed around and bullied for it and Lance intervenes and just, "I know what it's like to be judged by the color of your skin," and the other paladins just freeze Hunk comes over to help Lance with this kid, telling them about their blue skies, and blue oceans, and lights, and flowers, and the Blue Lion. Not to shadow the ethnicity of any other paladin (I think Pidge is the only white, American enthic-wise, but is also a rep. of transgender culture), I just feel Lance needs a Moment
• let my boy be happy and differemt and loving and free.
Tl;dr: I have a lot of feelings about my blue/red boy Lance and want him to be noticed and happy.
