La Galería Magazine | Info Session 2015 was an eventful one for us here at La Galería Magazine. 4 events, 30 writers, over 50 articles, and we are not stopping here. We are ready to take the magazine to the next level and are looking for people who are committed and interested in working with us and joining our team. We will be having an info session on January 11th at 6:30pm. Mark your calendars! We will update everyone on the location soon. In the info session we will discuss how the expansion of our team will look and what the requirements are in order to be offered an invitation to the team. Areas in which we are looking for support in: - Social media ( fb, twitter, tumblr, etc.) - Events (planning, promoting, etc.) - Public Relations (promoting, networking, etc.) Among others. La Galería Magazine seeks to build strong ties among the Dominican Diaspora, through projects and spaces that encourage dialogue, celebrate the community, and inspire action.

Si, Soy Negro: A Documentary Series

Michael Santiago, the author and creator of this week's submission explains, "In these videos, there is no narrator. The only voice that you hear are the participants because it is their voice that matters." His documentary series, Si, Soy Negro, studies the racial and cultural identification amongst people of Dominican descent. His projects fits right in with our Stories of the Diaspora series. It also emphasizes the importance of providing a platform that highlights the voice and the stories of Dominicans of the Diaspora.
