Kamen Rider is such an interesting franchise, because the theme could be cute and childish and all colours and cheerful. But the characters are just absolutely BROKEN, internally.

Like, in Gavv, it's fucking brutal for the characters. The two main Riders lost their Mothers to the big bads (alien corporation, in this season), the villain Rider, who's from the same alien species as the big bads, lost a loved one to some human who was supposedly hunting their species and is hence reluctantly working for the corporation who were sending their people out into human world, so he can kill humans in revenge. Wanna guess what the theme is? SNACKS!! IT'S FUCKING SNACKS!!! Gummy Bears, Chips, FUCKING MARSHMALLOWS is how these guys get their powers!!

It's chocolate man and pudding man fighting each other, BUT pudding man is an from an alien species, some of whom run a snack conglomerate that turn humans into addictive jellies, for which they send aliens who are addicted to the jellies to kidnap humans for their work. Chocolate guy lost his Mother to one of these Aliens and hence hates them. Pudding guy, who himself is the Alien, lost a loved one to the addiction.
