Aw, thank you for thinking of me! These are all oldies but goodies, but I am really pretty proud of these and will take any opportunity to tell people. ;)
The obvious thread here is that they are all pretty much about Killian Jones from Once Upon A Time. While I’m happy to write about CS, I much prefer writing about him in his various relationships with other characters (non-romantic) on the show. This list represents all of that.
1. Sit, Stay, Feel
CS Modern AU: Emma Swan is the owner of Pet Saviors — a dog training/walking/sitting service. Killian Jones, and his dog Gale, are her clients. It’s been a year since Emma started taking care of Gale and she’s never met her owner…until today.
Why I like it:
Dogs. I love writing them, I love reading about them. Dogs with Killian Jones are like chocolate and peanut butter: they go great together. The other thing I love about this story was how it just sort of came to me fully formed. I’ve never clicked with an idea so well.
2. Little Brother
Liam had faced far worse and more life-threatening situations on board ship this past year, but coming home to an empty house scared him more than an enemy cannonade at close range. Enemies were predictable. Life, he was learning, was not. For the first time, coming home didn’t feel like home at all. He wondered if it ever would again.
Why I like it:
Writing Killian and Liam backstory from Liam’s POV from their childhood was challenging and fun. I love this background way more than the one we were given on the show.
3. Drinks with the Prince
This is a series of 9 one-shot fillers for season 3B where Killian and David take center stage and have a drink.
Why I like it:
Exploring their dynamic at that stage of the overall story was just fun. They had a complicated relationship, but it was easy to see how much they were going to mean to each other. I love writing filler scenes, and being able to use Captain Charming as the focus was a joy.
4. Pictures in a Book
Belle shares something with Killian and Emma that’s been in the library all along. (Based off the idea that Will found Killian’s story book during 4a. This story takes place some indistinct time after that.)
I love writing about Hook’s other relationships beyond Captain Swan. His friendship with Belle after their inauspicious beginnings is one of my favorites. Couple that with the notion that he had his own storybook, and I could not hold back. There is plenty of Captain Swan in this story, but I wanted to explore Killian and Belle’s partnership.
5. Avalanche
A very pregnant Snow White is kidnapped by the Wicked Witch, and in the hunt to find her, Killian falls into Zelena’s trap and is taken himself. When he is thrown together with Snow in a remote cabin, she goes into labor. Can they safely deliver the baby without Zelena or her flying monkeys finding out?
Why I like it:
This was my first “Snook” fic. I felt like the show was never going to give us any real relationship between the two when there was such potential. So, I figured what better way for them to find their way to being friends than having Hook deliver her baby under strenuous circumstances.
