right!! i mean bnha isn’t perfect but damn we’ve come quite a ways! i’m glad you mentioned soul eater bc as much as i adore that series, the fan service is pretty insane. it’s nice to see shounen evolving! (then again my standards for shounen is fma which was written by a woman and there’s incredibly little fan service of the women which is wonderful- for real we need more women in the shounen genre!!)

Well, I wouldn’t say we need more women writing shounen - or, I wouldn’t say a woman writing a shounen solves the problem completely? It just changes what the problem is from my experience - usually what happens is something like Hoshino with D.Gray-man, or Amano with Reborn, or Strike Tanaka with Servamp, where the women just. Aren’t there. For every 15 male characters there’s a female one, so I guess sure they aren’t sexualized but I wouldn’t say it’s any actual improvement

Arakawa’s definitely a speical wonderful case in the shounen genre haha

Beetlejuice/Lydia Deetz, Beetlejuice (but only under certain circumstances, this is a provisional ship)

Shiro/Allura, Voltron: Legendary Defender (I love their dynamic, what can I say?)

Varric Tethras/Bethany Hawke, Dragon Age (you may have this one when you can take it from my cold dead hands)
