@the-ellia-west Slushie snippet
"You've seriously never had a slushie before?" Caspian asked. I shook my head, mentally steeling myself for the usual unintentionally offensive comment about how strange I am, or how sheltered my upbringing was. That comment never came.
"Well I've gotta take you to try one then! There's a gas station nearby, c'mon, let's go!" Caspian said, excitedly pulling me to my feet.
"What, right now?" I asked, stumbling a bit after him.
"Have you got anything better to do?" He responded with a mischievous glint in his eye as he lead me down the busy street.
I smiled softly as he pulled me forward to walk next to him, holding onto my arm. I had no idea where we were going, but I followed him gladly.
He brought us in to a rather run down, dirty looking gas station and beelined toward the slushie machine.
"This place doesn't look food safe." I said hesitantly. Caspian just laughed.
"That's half the fun! Seriously though, it's perfectly safe, and even if it wasn't I think the amount of sugar and dyes in these things would probably kill any germs."
"Very reassuring." I said, rolling my eyes with a smile.
Caspian laughed again.
"C'mon weirdo, pick your slushie flavour. I like the cherry one, but you'd probably hate it. I think you should try the blue raspberry."
"Raspberries aren't blue."
"They are in the mystical world of gas station slushie machines. Go on, try it."
I sighed dramatically, acting defeated.
"Alright, if you insist."
We paid for our slushies and found a spot to sit outside. After some convincing, I tried the strange blue concoction Caspian got me. I was surprised it didn't taste like food poisoning. I was even more surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
"Well?" Caspian asked with a smirk, already seeing the look on my face.
"I'll admit it's better than I thought it would be. I still don't understand why it's called blue raspberry though."
"Such mysteries of the universe are not for me to unravel Lucian." Caspian said with mock seriousness.
I laughed.
Caspian kissed me.
