This is long overdue from before Twitter went under BUT-! I'm hosting my first ever DTIYS!!

The theme is fan vivosaurs/dinosaurs! All artists are invited to redraw this piece in their style until July 31st! There will be some art prizes for three lucky participants!

Siats Meekerorum was a large theropod dinosaur that lived about 100 million years ago during the late Cretaceous period. It is only known from extremely fragmentary remains causing confusion on where it should be classified on the theropod family tree, as well as what category it even fits into. At first, Siats was thought to be part of Carcharodontosauria, either being a carcharodontosaurid or a Neovenatorid, however recently it has been debated that it is actually part of Megaraptora which is now classified within Tyrannosauroidea. However its placement is still widely uncertain. It is known that the specimen that the fossils originated from was a juvenile and not fully grown, which could indicated that Siats could reach lengths of nearly 40ft and weigh over 4 tons making it the largest predator in North America since Acrocanthosaurus, correlating with the time of the extinction of Acrocanthosaurus, which was also about the same time Siats appeared in the fossil record. Siats eventual extinction is what eventually allowed for the domination of Tyrannosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex. Due to the uncertainty of Siats and its actual appearance, I opted to base off the drawing on its Megaraptor classification, but still incorporated Neovenatorid traits such as the head shape.

Siats

Siats is a controversial theropod, due to the uncertain nature of its fossil remains. It has been classified as a megaraptoran, allosauroid, and tyrannosaurid at various stages of research. At 12 m in length and 4 t in body mass, it would certainly be the top predator in its habitat. Lacking further fossil evidence, the debate goes on regarding its phylogenetic affinities.

Okay so, lore behind We All Lie Amongst The Thorns and Survival Is A Team Sport. I have done proper wip summaries on my intro post here, but I'd be happy to go into more detail.

We All Lie Amongst The Thorns is a fairy tale retelling. The main character is my version of Sleeping Beauty. The story starts on her presentation ceremony (the day about a week after her birth when she is presented to the public) where a fairy from each discipline will bless her, except for the divination fairy, who will read her future. After the blessings are given the divination fairy has her vision and says that she will be cursed to fall into a deep sleep on her sixteenth birthday, and that this curse will bring about the kingdom's downfall. The king, terrified of losing his power, sends the newborn baby deep into the woods, far away from him. And thus the story begins.

Survival Is A Team Sport starts out on a beautiful sunny summer day, the main character Camryn's birthday. He and his friends are on the way to his house after school to celebrate when suddenly the sky goes dark and strange things start dropping from the sky. The kids' path home is blocked, so they take cover in a nearby garage. The sounds of chaos continue throughout the night, and when they finally peek out in the morning, everything has changed.
