Lambic.info receives HORAL Lambic Award
It’s truly an honor for the entire Lambic.info team to receive this recognition from HORAL, The High Council for Artisanal Lambic Beers. What first started as a mild obsession of mine turned into a sprawling project to document the forgotten histories of the many brewers, blenders, and merchants devoted to this anachronistic practice.
My ongoing research project of 5 years and counting has been an integral part of Lambic.info from the beginning. Many people ask what the research involves, and it ranges from scanning city archives, genealogy records, academic papers, almanacs, worlds fair catalogs, brewery advertising and documents. Listening to stories from descendants seeking details about their relatives. Sometimes it’s history detective work, piecing together small details, or cross-referencing multiple sources. In the end, it’s always exciting to learn something new. The documentation serves as an open educational resource, which I hope is as rewarding for the public to use as it was for me to create.

Here's a new page I did for Lambic.info on the brewery "Dry Pikkel" which closed in 1955. In researching closed lambic breweries, i've compiled well over 300 of them here. Thanks to everyone that has helped with this project!

This is a project i’ve been working on for a couple years and counting. Researching historic lambic breweries through various sources, and compiling my findings. Through the years, there were more than 300 lambic breweries in existence, a dramatic difference from the mere handful left today.
