Aixam Mega Track
In 1996, an unusual vehicle entered the scene: a two-door, 4-seater SUV with a central rear V12. In concept terms it was equivalent to crossing the Lamborghini Countach with the LM002. Based on a high-strength steel chassis (it was one of the first cars to use this type of steel), rests a Kevlar-reinforced fiberglass body. The architecture seems impossible: 2 doors, 4 seats, a 250-litre boot and a 5,987 cc V12 in the rear central position associated with a 4-speed automatic gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive (priority to the rear axle, which receives the 68 % of torque). The V12, of Mercedes origin, delivers 395 hp at 3,800 rpm and delivers 570 Nm at 3,800 rpm. More than 30 cm from the ground and on 20-inch wheels -Michelin Pilot SX 285/55 ZR 20 at the front and 325/50 ZR 20 at the rear, made specifically for this car-, the Mega Track reaches 250 km/h ( with electronic limiter) and makes the 0-1000 m in 28 seconds. It was never possible to reliably measure the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (it is estimated that it would be between 6.5 and 7 s) or the 0-400 meters. The interior is luxurious and the equipment includes the best of the time, with some rarities for then such as the reversing camera (rear visibility is nil). The price was very high for a vehicle of this type: 2 million francs, when a factory-new Ferrari F40 cost 1.6 million francs.
