This rare disease primarily affects women in their childbearing years. As the smooth muscle of the lungs fill with cysts, breathing becomes difficult. My cysts are “too many to count” according to my doctor. While I’m often frightened by the implications of loosing my ability to breathe, like most people who have faced the reality of their mortality, I truly value the gift of each breath.
