LAMill Las Mercedes Tabaconas Peru is the first #coffee from @lamillcoffee that I merely like rather than love. The roast was spot on, but the brew felt slightly thin and ashy and drank much darker than the bean color would suggest. Still finished the bag mind you, and still better than much of the swill sold all over this country every day, but not up to the lofty heights of other offerings of theirs. LAMill Walichu Wachu is my second coffee from @lamillcoffee and it cements my thought that LAMill is one of the best roasters in the US. This #coffee is so beautiful it is just silly. The grinds just jump out of the Hario V60 with nutty earth, flowers and dark chocolate. On the palate, the notes from LAMill are pretty spot on, though I really get an Earl Grey and candied orange peel flavor that I think dominates. With this bag, I think I am ready to say that LAMill has cracked my personal top 3 roasters in the US. Only Verve and Ritual are on the same level if you like a lighter roast. The bean quality is excellent, but the roast is just so spot on. LaMill Colombia El Progreso is a fantastic #coffee. I am at the very end of this bag and I have been thoroughly enjoying every cup this past week. The description on the label is pretty much spot on. It is a fruity and very floral cup that has a massive mid-palate presence that is reminiscent of a good red burgundy wine. The Gesha beans were roasted beautifully in the sense that the roast is light to medium and the bean characteristics are showcased. Based on this bag of coffee, I'd say that @lamillcoffee is now firmly in my top three roasters (Verve and Ritual the other two), but more purchases will have to be made to see if the quality and consistency is there. For right now, I can highly recommend this specific coffee. Chef Bill Corbett, at Lamill every Thursday and Friday in July. Vegetarian pop-up. Ice cream was insane. Black Garlic is now my favorite food. And carrots will never just be carrots again. Highly recommended!
