Lanamiego has so much untapped potential because obviously Mia has two hands and is into both of them, but what if Lana and Diego had to overcome jealousy regarding each other?

they go out to dinner one night, without Mia, because she loves them both and thinks this could be a really important thing for the pair of them. so they do it. and at first, Diego thinks Lana is cold, standoffish, and impossible to get through to, and Lana thinks Diego is arrogant, acts cryptic to try and impress people, and that his personality seems fake.

and then they talk.

Lana talks about her little sister and how she wants to do what’s best for her and how she worries about her, but also about how she is a young woman in a male-dominated career and she needs to act a certain way in order for her skills to be accepted, and it’s exhausting.

Diego talks about the hypocrisy he faces for being Latino and how he’s had to work twice as hard as his white colleagues to reach the same level of respect that they receive. how they’re praised for knowing some basic phrases in other languages but he’s looked down upon because English isn’t his primary language.

Lana talks about how hard losing her parents and suddenly becoming her sister’s guardian has been, especially while trying to pursue her studies at the same time. she talks about how she used to really love going to concerts, and how she really enjoyed the feeling of being in a room with other people who loved the same thing as her, how she’d really wanted to learn bass when she was younger but had to put that on hold, but she’s trying again when Ema starts college.

Diego talks about the old lady in his apartment building who has beautiful window boxes and how he wants to get into gardening but work is getting in the way. he talks about football and how he felt the same way watching his team in the stadium as Lana did when she was at gigs, and he won tickets to see a local band in a radio contest and he was going to invite Mia but he thinks they might be more up Lana’s street, and does she want to go?

and the two of them realise that not only does Mia have two hands, but so do they. and they’re not going to rush into anything, but maybe Lana or Diego could be in the middle of the couch, next time they have a pizza and movie night

I don't really have anything for lanamiego... I like the ships individually a lot. I just can't really see it as a poly ship, I suppose. Open to hearing about it.

It's very funny to me with Lana being kind of a third wheel for Miego or having a sort of mild dislike for Diego though.
