Voltron season 8 (forced romance fixed)
So, I’m currently watching it and I am slightly dissapointed with the outcome.
Firstly, the first episode was bad. This is when Lance and Allura goes out on a date and gets together by the end of it when Lance tells her that he loves her and she kisses him. This is where the problem is: he have been immaturely flirted with her during all this time and she’s been clearly unconfortable while he did. She also just had a thing with Lotor and couldn’t possibly get over him that fast. Actually, it seems like Allura still isn’t over Lotor and that makes the romance feel even more forced. It actually unintentionally (I hope) sending out the message that going after someone that clearly doesn’t like you will pay off If you annoy them long enough and that’s something I honestly believed in during my early teens which kinda corrupted my mental state to this day. I wish that the date scene would have gone like this:
Lance and Allura is standing by that tree. He tells her ”I love you, and I have for a long time.” Where she answers ”I’m sorry, but we are just not meant to be. I’m not ready to be with someone else after everything that happened with Lotor and you also deserves someone better than me.” He would look kinda sad and answer ”Yeah, I already figured that out. Thank you for coming here with me.” And that would be the end of the scene. Soon later, he tells hunk about what happened and considering how supportive he is, Hunk would say something like ”Aw, that’s bad. You’ll find someone better soon enough.” Where Lance says ”No, it’s okay. I knew this would happen and I’m already almost over her.”
After everyone of team voltron heard about it, they all act normally except for either Keith or pidge (whom both have had subtle hints about liking Lance, I don’t care which one of them) eventually confesses their crush a few episodes later with sublte hints about it beforehand but Lance answers with ”I don’t know, I’ll come back to you later”. Time skipped forward as he’s had a bunch of moments with pidge/ lance where he eventually by one of the veet last episodes takes a moment to talk to them privately and says ”You know, I’ve been thinking and I probably like you too. I just need more time.” And then the romance part ends with the couple having cute exchanges of looks here and there, but they never really become an ’official’ couple.
Yeah, my ”fixed” part is not perfect, I’m not a writer, but that’s the endgame I would have preferred. Also, I didn’t really mind Allura dying cuz I was never really into that character anyways.(I’m sorry) The fact that Lance ended up to be a farmer in the future is also something that I don’t mind because it’s kinda fitting for him. The last thing I wanted to express is that honerva/ haggar or however she’s spelled is the BEST FINAL BAD BOSS VILLAIN EVER
