Kim Wheatley (Ojibway grandmother) gave Janet Stephenson, garden chairperson, a hug after accepting a gift of tobacco, before providing a traditional land acknowledgement and teaching event about plants and human’s relationship to them, at St. John's Port Whitby Community Garden, June 16.
