LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy - Pieces of the Past Thoughts
"Force Builders, Sith Breakers, you're just little children with laser swords, playing a silly game that will never stop. Until now. It's time to put away childish things. Soon this galaxy will know peace. Endless night. An eternal dark age." Solitus
Rebuild the Galaxy remains my favorite D+ LEGO Star Wars story. Pieces of the Past does an amazing job of exploring the implications of what happens to those left behind when a galaxy is remade and further exploring this new universe Sig created. If Rebuild the Galaxy presented the SW galaxy similar to the " What If 1602 episode, Pieces of the Past explores the universe's Void from Loki. Solitus is unironically one of the best Star Wars villains. Dan Stevens did an amazing job voicing Solitus.
If one wants to know about my thoughts on Rebuild the Galaxy S1:
LEGO Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy Thoughts
Part I
"Your attachment to Dev, it can lead to--" Bobolian Afol "Jedi Bob"
"To the dark side? I don't believe that. What if my attachment to Dev is the only thing that's keeping him from being fully consumed? The last trace of light. Maybe I can save him from the path he's on." Sig Greebling.
It's great to see the Daysisters riding Rancors after hearing all the stories about the Nightsisters riding Rancors; we finally get to see that in this medium. Ventress and Maul having better fates in Rebuild the Galaxy is great to see.
It's still crazy how we're getting Alistan Nor in the show. Alistan Nor is definitely different from its depiction in the Freemaker Adventures.
I love the fact that the Sith version of Jynn Erso is the one to build the Death Star in this universe.
The Landolorian, having grenades that can instantly put people in carbonite, is amazing.
The chase sequence where the heroes are running through the iconic LEGO Death Star set is one of my favorite moments in the entire Rebuild the Galaxy series. Of course, Servo wanted to recreate the iconic Death Star destruction.
I like how Sig and Dev's Force Dyad is similar to The Last Jedi, especially with Solitus being the one to give them visions.
I love how Solitus' name connects to the word "solitude", given how he desires "peace and quiet" through oblivion. He's such a peak Star Wars villain for a LEGO Star Wars show. My friend describes Solitus as the complete opposite of Valkorion, and it's such an accurate comparison.
Part II
"This is why I find droids so agreeable. You cannot help but be exactly what you are. Like me. I've spent countless eons honing my powers, gathering strength in the lost secrets of the Force, all for this moment. The end of everything. Let the Dark Age begin." Solitus
The original LEGO Star Wars artwork takes me right back to the yellow brick days of LEGO Star Wars.
I also love seeing the Mandalorian's depiction of Tython in LEGO medium.
Bob's and Solitus' scene reminds me a bit of Revan and Malak discovering the Star Forge map.
I really love how Bob's initial willingness to follow Solitus' ideas connects all the way back to S1, given how Bob was obsessed with the Cornerstone and showing how alike the two are.
The design of the Oblivion Runner is great, with the Lucrehulk combined with an AT-AT and the Tantive IV. Solitus' dialogue goes so hard in this show. It really reinforces that nihilistic worldview Solitus has adopted after being trapped in the Forcehold for eons.
Snow City, being a Hoth version of Cloud City with CIS tanks, is so pretty.
Kuiil saying, "You should not have spoken" should not have made me smile so much.
The Mara Jade name drop is insane. I completely missed that name drop on my first watch until someone mentioned that.
Jaxxon is great in this show. I really want to see more of Jaxxon in visual media outside of the comics.
"You ever heard of the carrot and the stick? I'm all about the stick." Jaxxon
Also, the Jedi planet is on Canto Bight, and it reminds me of how the planet is a desert world.
That Minikit during the Chewbacca chase sequence is such a great touch.
BrickHeadz Ahsoka's entrance with her theme is so peak. It's also great to hear Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka again. I do love that while Ahsoka is in her S7 Siege of Mandalore look, her personality is closer to her SW Rebels depiction.
Jaxxon, Redeemed Ben Solo, JFO Cal Ketsis, CW S7 Ahsoka, Grand Inquisitor, and Enfys Nest being in the same scene is insane. My headcanon is that Redeemed Ben Solo is where Ben ended up after TROS.
Porrgils are terrifying, ingenious, and adorable. Ahsoka would be proud of Ysei using the Porrgils to travel to Canto Bight.
Let's hope this Leia and Greedo's marriage is a lot more stable. Also, Luke, you just had to jinx it.
Solitus' Lightsaber design reminds me of Charles Soule's Obi-Wan and Anakin story when Obi-Wan told Anakin about a similar Lightsaber design.
Good Palpatine is still a wild concept, but it's great seeing all the memes and iconic moments with him being recreated.
It's insane how Darth Revan first appeared in this show before appearing in that most likely dead KOTOR Remake game. I'm so happy that they kept Revan silent since that was one of my biggest worries.
Part III
"Don't help him, Dev. He wouldn't help you. The Jedi claim to believe in redemption, but when you asked for it, he denied you. I would never do that... You have a choice to make. Join me... Dev, you've wanted a master your entire life. I sense a kindred spirit in you. Something I never expected to find. I can teach you not just the ancient secrets of the Jedi and Sith, but power beyond measure." Solitus
I like how Solitus makes it clear how long he is in the Forcehold, which makes the horrors of the place even clearer.
Padme being a pirate queen isn't on my bingo card for what she'll be in the Rebuild the Galaxy universe, but I love to see it. I love how excited Luke to learn about his mom.
Andor being a pirate is pretty fitting, given his character in S1 before he had undergone character development. Phasma, being a pirate, also fits with what she used to do before joining the First Order in her Mad Max/Fallout-esque world.
It's a Canon even that every universe has someone fighting Anakin, having the high ground, and Anakin being forced to wear a suit because of that.
R2 is literally BT-1 in this universe.
That Snoke joke is probably my favorite joke of Pieces of the Past.
Jedi Bob is so judgmental and doubtful of Dev turning back to the Light Side that it makes Obi-Wan and Yoda look more hopeful of Vader turning back to the light by comparison.
K-2SO is such a jerk to the B1s.
That Minikit easter egg is peak. That's two times it's in this show.
Darth Jar Jar lives!!! He's undergoing his Maul spider legs arc.
That Skyguy comment just gives me life.
I do like how the space battle parallels the space battle in S1's finale, but this time the good guys lose.
The silence at the end of this episode gives me chills.
Part IV
"I know you're all afraid. I'm afriad too. And I know fear is the path to the dark side, but in this place maybe we're beyond dark side and light side. Some of us build, some of us break. We don't always get along. We may play by different rules, but at least we play. So, what happens if we play together? Dev and I got out of here last time because we're a Force dyad. But the Force connects us all, right? Flows through all of us. What if everyone that's left can come together and create a Force myriad?... If we join together through the Force, we might be able to bust out of Force Hold, get back to whatever's left of our galaxy, and take Solitus by surprise... Some of you have already lost your galaxies. And some of you have only just found each other again. But all of us need to fight for the future, for what might be. For who we could become. Can you try?" Sig Greebling
I really love how Sig's speech represents the joy and beauty of playing. Sometimes we forget that things are simple and better if we play and work together.
While it is sad to not see Tech and Echo, it's still great to see the BB survive the erasure of their universe.
I love seeing Dark Troopers. I feel like Canon hasn't been using them more than they should've.
Ysei finally being a General is noice to see, and leading the Alliance forces against Solitus' droid forces.
The Skywalker family being badasses is a wholesome sight to see, given the tragedies that they underwent.
I'm so happy Neel appeared in this show. I love Skeleton Crew a lot, so any connection to the show is welcome.
The Servo and Viper romance is noice.
Jaxxon, Ben Solo, Cal Ketsis, and Maul fighting together feels like the most Fanfic thing I've seen, and I love it.
I'm so happy Dev finally found redemption and accepted Sig as his younger brother.
I love how Solitus is defeated simply because he literally hates playing. He reminds me of an irredeemable Lord Business. Whoever wrote his lines deserves a raise.
"I am oblivion. I am the everlasting nothing." Solitus
"Stare into the abyss and it stares back." Solitus
The action in this show is amazing, especially the abilities and combat of Solitus.
Sig and Ysei's ship continues to be peak.
It's so hilarious seeing Darth Jar Jar briefly thinking of turning a new leaf only to quickly abandon the idea.
The Rebels' content at the end of the show makes me so happy.
I really love Pieces of the Past, and I hope the show gets a third season, given how this season didn't have a cliffhanger. Solitus raises the bar of this season so much.
The soundtrack also remains at its peak. Michael Kramer and Adam Dib (composers of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu and Ninjago: Dragons Rising), with Roberto Prado creating amazing music for Pieces of the Past.
"I guess this is it. What are you gonna do now, Dev? You could go anywhere you want. Turns out it's a big, glorious galaxy out there." Sig Greebling
"Actually, I thought I might stick around here for a bit. Jedi Bob offered to train me. And who knows, maybe there is more to life than just breaking everything. Besides, I have to keep my baby brother out of trouble." Dev Greebling
"I'd like that. Come on. Let's build something amazing." Sig Greebling
