What is the difference between language A and language B?
Language A is your mother tongue (or a language you’re fluent in). You read and study literature written in that language or translated to that language. Language B is a language you’ve studied before but you’re not necessarily fluent or it’s not your first language. I’m not familiar with Language B because my school doesn’t offer any classes, but I think if you were bilingual, you could take Language A and Language B. Language B is a group 2 (language acquisition) class, so it would probably be your second language that you’d take at that level. It’s also a big step up from Language ab initio which is just learning the language. According to the IBO website, you would learn a lot about the culture and read literature in that language.
Here’s the IBO pages on Language A (literature, language and literature) and Language B. Hope this helped! Sorry I don’t know more :(
Starting to get very nervous for my English Oral on Tuesday. For anyone who has done their Language A oral, do you have any advice?
NEW RULE: LATENESS
Students not submitting a piece of work on time will attract a one grade per day penalty on assessment tasks.
I am aware, however, that students have many commitments and things that sometimes get in the way. This is why I will be giving students three ‘Extension’ passes. If you need to hand in something late, you can use a pass to hand it in the next day, with no hit to your grades. You can use one pass per day. If I take longer than a month to get a completed assessment task back to you, then everyone gets 1 (one) extra pass.
YEAR 7 & 8: STUCHBERLIN
Next week I'll be on the Grade 12 TOK trip to Berlin. Don't worry, I've left plenty of work for you. Click here to download a copy of the workpacks, should you lose them.
YEAR 6: Journal Entry - My Favourite Story
Tell, in a piece between 100 and 200 words, your favorite story. It could be an ancient Greek myth, a fairy tale or the plot of the most recent film you saw. Just make sure that it is written in a conversational way.
Underneath, draw your favorite scene from the story - make sure you're doing your best work, we'll be sharing them with the class.
YEAR 6: Spelling Words, Week 1
Each week you will be given fifteen words to learn. You will be tested on these words. You will then swap sheets with a partner and correct them. Your scores will be recorded. You will also be asked to use two of these words in one sentence each.
