been trying to duolingo Indonesian lately and the new challenge is to rewire tagalog words in my brain that are spelled similarly to the indonesian meanings

saya is happiness/joy for me vs "I" in indonesian

suka - vomit/vinegar (depending on a vowel's accent. but vomit the way the indonesian word is pronounced) vs like

ito - this vs itu - that 😅

salamat - thank you vs selamat - good(?) (this one has been the most challenging so far)

suso - breast vs susu - milk (easy enough but the immediate visual, heh)

lagi - always vs again

sarapan - to make it delicious vs breakfast

ingat - careful vs remember

so I've heard the 'what language do you think in' more than enough during my little lifetime, and i have also heard the 'what language do you do math in' more than a few times, but i just realized: i have genuinely fucked up my brain by taking IB.

i learned my basic math in finnish, so that's the language i use for it, but anything beyond that I'm learning in english. so i can only imagine the result of this will be an absolute mess of me switching languages while talking to myself, trying to calculate literally anything, and i already know it's going to sound insane :')

this is a grave i dug for myself by girlbossing too close to the sun once again i guess, so I'd better just prepare myself for the ride lmao

? rendezvous is not an English word

anything can be an english word if you're brave enough

jokes aside i am aware it is an unadapted borrowing from french. I do however hear english people around me use the word rendezvous (and i live in australia) albeit rarely, though i also got the word in a spelling bee once. i think it counts

Hi Guys! So this is my original intro video. I made another one, but I think this was more clear (linguistically), but the quality isn’t as good. However, next weekend I will post the relationship vocabulary video. My friend has agreed to help me out with the video! Don’t panic! I haven’t forgotten about the ASL videos I promised. I actually filmed them a while ago on my webcam, but the quality wasn’t very good and there is apparently an upload limit to Tumblr (???). I’m going to refilm them using my video camera and upload them to YouTube so that I can link it on Tumblr. I will also have a special guest for my first vocab video which will be relationship terms as requested. Thank you for being patient with me!
