My progress over the past 1.5 years. I’ve never done a redraw challenge before, so here’s one for 2020 featuring my ocs Lang and Wen!

Personal tips for art: - goal-oriented practice: focus on a thing you want to improve (perspective, lighting, etc - only pick one or two at a time!!! Never overwhelm yourself) and try to incorporate those things in your drawing routine. - observation: practicing is key, but knowing what exactly you want to achieve with your practice is also crucial. So use references. Analyze from real-life and art that you admire. - seek guidance: this is optional, but a great bonus. I don’t think I would have improved as quickly if I hadn’t met my art director, who taught me more in a few months than school ever has in two years. Ask for critique, take courses, etc.

Most importantly: - draw what you enjoy. Technical studies are important, like playing scales for piano, but... it’s dry, and boring for most people. Having solid foundations is an absolute must. But make sure you are also drawing what you enjoy, and try to incorporate your “studies” into it. You improve much more quickly when you enjoy what you’re doing.
