I forget, were the Lannisters rebuilding their fleet after the Greyjoy Rebellion? I imagine nine years is perhaps too long to rebuild the fleet to pre-rebellion strength, but I have a hard time remembering if they did any rebuilding, which seems weird considering the facts the Lannisters could easily pay for it, Tywin being Tywin, and the Lannisters history with the Ironborn in general

We don't really know, I don't believe the Lannisport fleet ever really comes up in the novel proper. That being said, we do know Tywin's personality. To Tywin, it is a big black eye that the Greyjoys successfully destroyed the Lannister fleet at anchor. That's a failure for Tywin, who has the title "Shield of Lannisport." A guy that shaves his head as soon as he goes bald is unlikely to have a visible reminder of his failure to defend Lannisport, so the Lannister navy was almost certainly rebuilt, and probably strengthened, albeit not to the level of the Redwynes, Greyjoys, or royal fleet proper. That is speculative though, I don't believe there is explicit evidence in the text.

Do you think Tywin having a fleet of 30 ships is out of charcater or becauee he’s view the redweynes merchant use of it as un Lannister like? I would’ve thought he may have had a 301 ship fleet because ‘a Lannister is worth more’?

Part of it can perhaps be due to class strictures, but I would think that, if nothing else, Tywin would have expanded the Lannisport fleet after the Greyjoy Rebellion. This is Tywin Lannister we're talking about, a man who is so dedicated to purging any manifestation of weakness that he shaved his head the second he started balding. There's no way he'd leave such a physical reminder of his infirmity in naval defense...he's the Shield of Lannisport. Even without that, Lannisport is a major trade city, it should have a relatively decent navy.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙨𝙩. Faraway from the bustling city of Lannisport, this area provided a safe haven for anyone wanting to remove themselves from the fast-paced society or to indulge in solicited affairs. The cliffs of the western coast are huge, green, and stony; in contrast to the sea’s fluid, crystal blue waters. The sand is soft, yet grainy under the touch. A perfect place for sword training.

If the Lannister’s are so wealthy and Tywin thinking he’s superior, why doesn’t he have a better fleet than the redweynes? Especially after the Greyjoy rebellion? So the crown claiming supremacy overnight it’s vassals but Tywin really edging on the verge of rudeness by having one ship smaller than the royal fleet? Realistically how many ships do you think each lord paramount house should have?

I've been on record as complaining about the inconsistency of fleet sizes, and the Lannisport fleet is the example I use.

Is Lannisport based on a specific city, or is it a amalgamation of multiple real life cities?

We'd need an actual look into what Lannisport is like to really get an idea, but I've always thought of a coastal Kremnica when I think of Lannisport.

A red Lannister city - even if it wasn’t build out of red materials. ( Plus what the house of the Lannisters of Lannisport might look like )

There is this process called clinkering in civil engineering. It’s roughly the same idea of putting plaster on an outer wall of a house to protect it from influences like the weater but done with stone. To clinker a house means to make it more durable to weather conditions and to make the facade easier to take care of. It’s more expensive to clinker a house after it’s done, and it’s a practice that sees the most use in modern times but since GRRM already plays fast and loose with the civil engineering of medieval times - I might as well get in on the fun. So the stones used in clinkering are clinkers ( a type of red brick ) , so the city could look red very easily.

As an aside : red bricks are made out of clay and water ( mostly ) , pressed into brick form and then burned in an oven. They are an overall great building material ( depending on the situation, cost even less than natural stones ) and the overall principle of how to make them has been known to us since roughly 8000 - 6000 B.C. So Westeros would know about these stones, even if they didn’t always have the technology to make them in their pretty red color.

Plus red bricks were used to build castles ( mostly in the lower countries like Northern Germany ), so have a bit more modern example of what kind of house a Lannister of lannisport might live in.
