This was My #grandparentshouse #wheniwasakid, in the *cough* 1970's . It was my #favoriteplace to visit in the summer: with my cousins and the "swanky" in ground pool in the backyard... we spent hours on end #swimming like tadpoles... inventing crazy "dives" off the diving board... when I think of my childhood summers, I think of this house. We kids slept in the bedroom w the top right window... my uncle was a hippy for about a year, and he would sit on the steps and play Woody Guthrie songs...my sweet meme (grandmother) was recovering from a stroke and would exercise by lifting cans of beans that were encased in tube socks...my Pepe ( grandfather) absolutely was my hero: a Short and sturdy man with barely there thinning hair and a cute little pot belly ( that I seem to have inherited). He was a self made guy, worked hard and owned a big shoe store and would make his own catalogs, cutting and pasting pictures on a huge round table in the den ( lower right window) Today it looks like a simple house...but to me, back then, it was and will remain a #palace of my heart. #Brockton #massachusetts #merrilswestgate #lanoue #memories (at Brockton, Massachusetts)
