It was hot. The city seemed to have come to a standstill as the heatwave assaulted the city streets, everyone retreating to shade or the sanctuary of air conditioning. It made things slow, boring, and as Officer Lucy Chen peeled off her uniform in the locker room of the Wilshire NYPD headquarters she dreaded the drive back to her apartment - her 1977 Datsun fast and fun, but sadly lacking in cold air. By the time she had slipped into more comfortable jean cutoffs and a t-shirt, deciding to leave her hair up in it’s uniform bun that was still neat despite the humidity, Lucy decided that if she were to survive the drive back to her place she would need at least one cold drink. She deserved it, she thought, as the temperatures and slower days had made her training officer an even larger asshole than was usual and he seemed to enjoy taking it out on his ‘boot’. Even when the cool air of the front struck her Lucy seemed to barely notice it, waving a farewell to Nolan and West who were just about to begin their shifts and were filling out some last minute paperwork before hitting the beat. Night shift - what she wouldn’t have given to work a graveyard shift instead of having to sit next to Bradford as they cruised the city in the relentless sunshine and smoke from nearby wildfires. The two rookies seemed to sense her mood and offered her sympathetic smiles and waves as she all but stumbled outside and to the lot where sticky leather and stale air awaited her. Thankfully the pub she had begun to frequent was air conditioned and there was no stopping the pleased sigh that slipped from her lips as she stepped inside the dimly lit bar. It wasn’t exactly busy, just a few tables with patrons - another testament to the heat as for a Friday Lucy had half expected the place to be jammed, but it seemed even the respite that the sunset had brought still wasn’t enough to coax LA natives and visitors alike from their holes. Drawn to a seat at the bar, it’s wooden surface much more appealing than the lonely vinyl of a booth, Lucy slid onto the stool and was quickly brought a frosty bottle of corona bearing a lime stuffed into it’s brim. Flashing the bartender a grateful smile for remembering her favourite despite the fact she was missing the other two-thirds of her typical party Lucy stuffed the lime into the bottle with the beer releasing a bitterly scented fizz before she took a greedy pull. “Oh my God that’s good,” she groaned before she realized the noise she made, an embarrassed flush painting golden skin with pink when she noticed that the stool next to her was now occupied. “Sorry, long day.”
“Any way that you have spare cigarette on you? I left my carton in my other jacket, and it’s been one of those days.”
Well I decided to make an RP blog for Erin Cole from the Rookie. This blog is completely canon divergent.
