I feel like Milah was never really concerned about Rumpelstiltskin himself, but rather what could happen if he went off to war. It's possible that she already knew about her pregnancy at that point, and then the idea of losing Rumpelstiltskin and possibly having no way to support this baby was probably scary. When he came back, not only was she already known as the coward's wife in town, but they weren't really making any money anyway.
I feel like Milah's story could be explored further, and her character could be fleshed out so well if they gave her a chance.
