T-26B (model 1933) tank of Finnish Army photographed during maintenance near Tornio in October of 1944 during Lapland War. Since this tank has a hull machine gun, it is one of former OT-130 flame tanks converted as T-26B.

27th April is the National Veterans’ Day of Finland on which we honour and remember our veterans, especially the brave men and women who fought for, protected and saved our country and people during the Winter War (1939-1940), Continuation War (1941-1944), and Lapland War (1944).
The day 27th April was chosen as this was the day in 1945 when the last German troops crossed the border to the German-occupied Norway in Enontekiö and the Finnish Defence Forces achieved the Three-Country Cairn of Finland, Norway and Sweden.
Veteraanin iltahuuto (Evening Call of the Veteran) is perhaps the most well known veteran song in modern day Finland. Its lyrics urge the new generations to always remember them and take care of them while they still live among us.

Finnish soldiers raising the flag at the three-country cairn between Norway, Sweden and Finland on 27 April 1945, following the end of the Lapland War and thus, the end of World War II in Finland. Taken by Colonel V.J. Oinonen, this photograph became an iconic symbol of the war in Finland and was compared to the American Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima and the Soviet Raising a Flag over the Reichstag.
