hi thre! ive just read your russian nicknames post (SUPER interesting btw thanks!!!) and i was wondering if you can tell me what kind of diminutives Yakov and Nikolai's names would have. also, both being older men would their formalities towards each other be different for like viktor and yuri? say like Nikolai might be friends with Yakov since theyve both basically raised Yuri together would they refer to each other w any diminutives?

hey !!  here are a few of the common diminutives for them:

Yakov:  Yasha, Yasya, Yashik, Yashka (colloquial), Yakusha, YashechkaNikolai:  Kolya, Nika, Koka, Nikolasha, Nikusha

it might depend a bit on their relationship. like, if yakov is trying to keep the relationship between himself & the skaters’ parents distant for professional reasons, he might stick to First Name + Patronym. that depends on how strict you perceive yakov as, though. if you think he’s more relaxed around parents - which i would assume would be more likely since he must work closely with them for years, and he clearly gets attached to his pupils - then yeah, diminutives would be the right way to go. especially since you’re looking at them as raising Yuri together, that business formality would drop and yakov would easily switch to diminutives with nikolai. that would be more general rule of thumb unless the sports world is stricter than i imagined !

I got them from a company called Vograce, you contact them via the Alibaba platform! They are a chinese company, but have agents that communicate in english too. Note that they aren’t fluent, but with patience you can get the order through clearly! Ofc if you also have any other troubles I can try to help you through it!

its 330 am and i just binge read the entirety of the sequel because i never managed to find time until tonight and i thought id just read some and take my time catching up since i have a crazy 3 days off from work in a row thats plenty of time to read 27 parts like oh ill read a couple chapters here and there and now suddenly its 330 am and i have cried like 4 times but it was GOOD crying because everything about this story even the sad parts is SO GOOD this story is SO GOOD!
